When you turn a normal truck, the hanger web puts pressure on one side of each bushing (top and bottom). This squeezes that side and pushes the other side of each bushing away from the kingpin. We call this a single action bushing because only one side of the bushing works for you at a time.
The HardCore insert in the center of BONES bushings connects the two sides of each bushing together by bonding them to the HardCore insert. When the hanger web squeezes one side of a HardCore bushing, that side of the bushing reacts just like a normal bushing, but the chemical bond between the HardCore and the cushion keep the bushing from being squeezed out the other side. It actually increases the resistance to turning because it is held in place by the HardCore insert. This means basically that BOTH sides of the BONES HardCore Bushing are resisting your turning force. That’s why we call BONES Bushings the first double action truck bushings.

There are no other bushings like the HARDCORE BONES BUSHINGS. Don't spend money getting something that will disappoint you, I have tried Independent and Shorty's DO-DO Bushing... They take hours of skating before they break in, and once they break in, they don't last very long. Go with the Bones Bushings. No Break In Time and they LAAAAAST. The sounds these made when leaning were so bad at first, tried loosening, tried tightening. Finally saw the part moving when they made the loud pop was the washer, I took the top washer off scraped it over a candle for a little wax, put it back together and it was silent. I have installed 2 sets of the BONES Hard Bushing and they respond great with very little torque on the truck bolt. These make being heavier easy to have a tight, responsive truck that does not blow out the bushing in a few sessions. I found these are significantly better to the Mini Logo hard bushings. Those seemed to crush very quickly, my second choice was Independent hard. The hard pack is more of a medium-hard compared to most other bushings. Perfect without going overboard on hardness. Kept stock washer on bottom to match height of the original. Love the springiness and it's way more stable to recover and straighten out which just feels natural. Took no time at all to adjust to the difference. No signs of blowing out at all so far. I'm sold.
